Sparky and a Skunk

This little dude decided it would be a good idea to go out the cat door at about 9:30 last night. He came in foaming at the mouth with watering eyes and smelling very strongly of skunk.

He’d been stalking a gopher hole all day and I’m assuming he went outside to check on that and met something else instead. A bath with baking soda, peroxide and dish soap ensued along with a load of laundry. I woke up several times last night smelling skunk.

He looks a little guilty doesn’t he? Thankfully it seems only his face was sprayed and the bath worked. His bed however had to be tossed and thankfully the smell of skunk has all but faded in the house.

Animals keep you as busy as kids do sometimes. What kind of crazy antics have your little furry friends been up to lately?

  1. OH NO! That stinks! 🙂

This morning I found Nanna, our eldest, lapping up a ramekin of salad dressing the we left out the night before. AND THEN, I caught her standing on our desk in the living room this afternoon scarfing down a bowl full of Skittles. Yeah, she left us something really special to clean up . . . multi-colored and everything.

Pets really do become like part of the family. It’s hard to imagine you’d throw out the bed and not send the dog along with it except that you love him. He may have a new nick-name now, though. Skunky is kinda cute.

@factmeetsfiction: I really hope that Nanna is a dog and not someone’s grandmother. 😀
